What is it?
Bluetooth is a wireless technology for exchanging data over short distances, and is a way of pirating data from a computer system.
How does it work?
Bluetooth works by using a special radio frequency to transmit data, it creates a short range network. It is very secure and can connect up to eight devices at the same time. The chip can be plugged into items such as computers, digital cameras, mobile phones and faxes.
What are the limitations/abilities of using it?
Bluetooth allows you to be wireless so you don’t have to worry about being able to plug in your phone wherever you are. You can go on the internet wirelessly when you’re somewhere outside of your home.
The biggest limitation to Bluetooth is the distance because most devices only allow you to access a device through another’s Bluetooth from up to 10 meters away. Another is that Bluetooth devices that transfer are about three megabits per second which is significantly lower than Wi-Fi. Meaning that Bluetooth is too slow to stream music or video, which requires at least 10 MB per second.
